From 1961 until her death in 2006, LaVera Betts researched several dialects of the Kagwahiva group in Brazil, focusing mainly on Parintintin and Tenharim, but also including to a lesser extent Karipuna, Uru-eu-wau-wau, and Amundava. This dictionary, published posthumously with the editorial help of Helen Pease and Alan Vogel, is based on the extensive comparative database that LaVera compiled over the decades.
